Are wooden windows as hermetic as those made of aluminum or PVC?

Thanks to existing hardware technology, wood thermal behavior is superior compared to aluminum. Wood also has natural thermal insulation properties while aluminum is a conductive material. Besides, because of its weight and density, wood is further more attractive and durable than PVC.

How can I avoid distortions or “movements” in my woodwork?

The major problems of untreated woodworking are deformations or so-called “movements”. Wood acts like a “sponge” absorbing moisture from its environment. If wood is extremely dry, it expands absorbing moisture. On the contrary, if it contains excessive humidity, it shrinks releasing the extra moisture to the environment. If these “movements” were excessive, wood would experience deformations. The key is the DRYING PROCESS. Providing average moisture level of its destined environment, wood is protected from noticeable deformations while proper function of the openings are guaranteed.

What are the differences between native and implanted wood?

Native wood is a local specie while implanted wood is a foreign specie cultivated with industrial purposes. In our company we use native woods from the yungas, the subtropical mountain forests located in the northwest of the country. This area is extended over the provinces of Jujuy, Salta, Tucumán and Catamarca. Warm and humid weather combined with dry seasons during winter and spring provides optimal conditions for development of an extensive biodiversity.
Orán Cedar, “Pink” Cedar, Palo Amarillo, Cebil, Lapacho and Walnut Tree are among the raw material we use. Custom selection guarantees the noble and exclusive quality of our woodwork. The main benefit of native wood over forested species (pines, eucalyptus and others) are the following:

How do I recognize high-quality wood?

Premium woods have no knot or sapwood (excessively light colored sections in contrast to the general tone of the wood). It’s also recommended to keep homogenous color and texture, without significant hue differences in the same openings.

How do I prevent wood from getting wet?

The first step is prevention. If it’s possible plan an architectural design to protect wood avoiding excessive exposure to "water-sun" combination. Otherwise, our openings designs and technical advice of our professionals prevent wood from wearing.

Am I causing damages to the environment by using wood carpentry?

On the contrary, wood is considered one of the most environmentally friendly materials for construction. In comparison, the required energy to produce one ton of wood is only the 0.24% of the energy consumed in the production of the same amount of aluminum (400 times less energy) and also only the 1.41% of the energy required for the same amount of PVC (70 times less energy).
This is due to:
· Reduction of handling costs (less handling stages from obtaining raw materials to manufacturing the final product)
· Simplification of process steps involved in converting raw materials into finished products.
